With large HGV trucks and lorries there are so many blind spots and in a number of locations. Blind spots are the points in where in this case the drivers view is obstructed.
Even with a number of different mirrors there are a few points which are just impossible to see while behind the wheel.
Is there any solution?
Yes.
Mirrors can only do a certain amount so you will need extra reinforcements. Having a blind spot camera hooked up to a monitor will give you an extra view point.
With a wide angle camera and even night vision you will be able to clearly see around the side of your vehicle.
Though there is still more blind spots than just one this certainly helps and more cameras can possibly be added.
Here's a quick video of our installation of a blind spot / side viewing camera into a Scania R500 lorry.
We used a Parksafe blind spot camera and hooked it up to the Kenwood head unit. It works with a simple switch to turn it on and off when the driver needs it.
