You are sure to have seen some reversing cam systems in cars or vans and thought ‘Wow those look cool’. Whether it’s the factory fitted ones that display through the head unit or the separate monitor displays.
But are they really helpful when you go to park your vehicle? Let’s discuss.
When it comes to parking, no matter the size of your vehicle it can be tricky.
In large vehicles like jeeps, vans or trucks where you can’t see clearly out the back window is where a camera can come in handy.
Giving you a clear view of any objects, cars or people that may be behind you can aid you in avoiding any serious accidents or just minor damages.
With some of our displays having moving guidelines for steering and distance it will make parallel parking a breeze, guiding you into any parking spot.
Are there any down sides?
No? There is next to zero downsides of having a reversing camera. Though if the driver becomes over reliant on the camera they may forget to use their mirrors or may not be able to judge their distance just right, yet.
We often would help customers to choose between Parking Systems and often encourrage them to go for the cheaper option of Parking Sensors.
Sensors give you a clear warning when approaching any objects in reverse as well as encouraging you to look around you more rather than focusing on a screen.
With some practice however, a back-up camera could certainly help you especially if you’re having difficulties parking.
